I've always thought that one of the least understood and studied aspects of fantasy baseball is the trade. There are acres of words written every year about topics from Average Draft Position to auction values, position eligibility to position scarcity, and xFIP to lineup construction but fantasy trades are often left out of the discussion.
In an effort to add some much needed objectivity and analysis to the world of fantasy trading I wanted to take a look at one trade offered to me in the Blog Wars League, hosted by MDS over at milliondollarsleeper.com.
He's offering me:
Ian Kennedy
Sergio Romo
Jhonny Peralta
For my:
Yunel Escobar
Travis Wood
I'll take a look at the details of the trade tomorrow but first head over to TradeBashers.com and vote on which side you would prefer. Like I said, the point is to add some analysis and objectivity to the world of fantasy trades and TradeBashers.com is a great place for both of those goals. The site is built to allow users to post any potential trade they can think of while voting on trades posted by others. When trades close we can tell just what the market thinks of a certain offer.
Once people have voted on the trade I'll post my analysis here. I'm certainly willing and half expecting that the community opinion expressed through the voting on TradeBashers will effect how I respond to this particular trade offer and that's part of the point. People should be able to get objective information about trades as easily as they get information about K/9 or HR/FB.
Happy voting and check back tomorrow for my thoughts on the trade above.
