Daily Roto Pickups: April 29

While we look for players it's good to remember that early season struggles are something you should always be careful with.  Players like Mark Reynolds and Carlos Pena may not fulfill your projections, but they will still hit better from now till October than the guy you might add instead unless your looking at a trade.

Hitter

Mitch Moreland - 1B - Texas Rangers (50% owned)

This one is not a sure thing as Moreland is not your elite first baseman and unfortunately that is where he plays.  He has great plate discipline and will get on base, but at this point I don't see him having great power.  If your really hurting at first or more likely your CI or utility spots Moreland should suffice.

He has 20 home run power, hits in a powerful offense and a hitters park.  He also takes plenty of walks and  will surprise with a few steals.  He isn't going to win you the league, but he makes a solid contribution to most teams.

Pitcher

Cory Luebke - SP - San Diego Padres (3% owned)

I'm always going to give San Diego and Los Angeles pitchers a second look as their home park always helps.  Luebke has solid strikeout numbers although not as good as he has been so far this year.  His control is a bit concerning, but he has been getting better.  He could be one of those pitchers who will show less walks with the more experience he gets.

In any other park and league I would say your looking at an average or below average option, but in San Diego you have a solid option for ERA and he won't kill you in strikeouts.  His WHIP and wins will not be very good, but at 3% owned he is a solid pickup and playing him mostly at home would make him even better.
