Vazquez to the Bronx

Javier Vazquez has always been a difficult pitcher to project. His underlying stats are very strong but his ERA always seems to creep a bit too close to scary territory. 2009 was something of a career year for Vazquez as he put up career best numbers in K/9, K/BB, HR/9, ERA, and WHIP. Can he possibly repeat that kind of success in 2010? Probably not, but he should still be a very good source of K's and Wins next year even if his numbers regress a bit. The real problem with Vazquez in 2010 is that he'll be pitching in a home ballpark that highlights his main weakness, HR's to left-handed batters. If you need K's don't be afraid to target Vazquez but don't be surprised if his ERA in 2010 is closer to the mid 4's than the mid 3's.
