When is it time to drop Chris B. Young? There are a couple players that are doing well right now like Kendry Morales that are available. I don't think he can turn it around this year at least put up better numbers than a replacement can put up right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for picking up the hot player and dropping a guy that blew up. Obviously Young has potential for the long term, but he's not hitting HR right now because he's simply not hitting anything.
ReplyDeleteHis K% is only slightly above average. He's not walking, which means he's getting more outs (and further decreasing his AVG). His BABIP is ridiculously low, so that SHOULD bounce back. The problem is, even if it does, he'll only carry a .250 AVG the rest of the way. With so few HR at this point in the season, it's hard to justify keeping him on the bench, let alone playing.
If it's not a keeper league, I'd personally let him go. As long as you're not playing the FA pool for half of your positions every week, it's okay to drop one (allegedly) talented guy in favor of a hot player. This year I'm playing various hot players at 2B in one league and at 3B in another. The rest of my positions are holding steady.
