We had our first Review Your Draft submission and after my comments please add your comments on the following draft.
This comes from reader Moritz in Germany who was in an interesting 12 team H2H league. The major variation is they don't draft pitcher, but instead draft pitching staffs from a team. The league seems built for some owners who don't put in the time, so lets see how good Moritz did against them.
1B Votto (5)
2B Utley (2)
3B M. Cabrera (1)
SS Tulowitzki (7)
OF BJ. Upton (3)
OF Kemp (4)
OF Dukes (14)
DH Ludwick (6)
C Sandoval (11)
P Cinci Reds (8)
BN Cruz (10)
BN Wieters (9)
BN K. Johnson (12)
BN Choo (13)
BN Hermida(15)
BN B. Wood (16)
I am curious what pitching staffs were still available in the 8th round, but Cincy does have a good staff, but a bad stadium.
His infield is elite all around and his outfield is a great group of power and speed. This league will have a lot of talent on the bench with those small rosters. I would also look somewhere else than Brandon Wood as a last bench spot.
Otherwise I think this team should be elite even in a shallow league. If you have thoughts please share in the comments. Send Draft results to TroyPatterson@RotoSavants.com
The format is an ESPN H2H league, I bet. They let you choose entire staffs instead of individuals.
ReplyDeleteI think Wood was grabbed for his 20+ HR potential, and perhaps to back up Tulo. However, I agree that there should be better options out there.
The OF is great, especially with Cruz and Choo on the bench. I really think Hermida needs to be kicked to the curb for that reason. He's more likely to bounce back than Francoeur, but you have solid guys that will perform better, so don't waste your bench space with 3 OF. Instead, I'd pick up another pitching staff with his roster spot.
I looked it up. The pitching staffs already gone when I drafted the Reds were (in this order: Red Sox(5), Rays (5), Diamondbacks (6), Cubs (6), Giants (7), Angels (7), Yankees (7), Phillies (7), Dodgers (8).
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should've picked the Braves instead.
Thanks for your suggestions. I don't like Ankiel as my DH. Any suggestions who I should try to trade for and with what kind of packege?
By the way, this is MLB.com fantasy. League winner moves on to play the other league winners in a tournament, winner gets $10.000.
I meant Ludwick as my DH. Got confused with the STL outfielders.
ReplyDeleteActually, I meant MLB.com instead of ESPN. I visualized the league page and their setup, but I put the wrong name down. =P
ReplyDeleteI think Ludwick is a solid option at UTIL, but if you want to put your trust in Cruz/Choo, all I can say is put him on the trading block and see what you get. You don't really have a weak position with the exception of SS (in case Tulo doesn't perform like we hope he will).
MAYBE you can offer Ludwick and your pitching for a better staff? The Cubs keep leading the majors in strikeouts. Problem is, I don't see Cincy + Ludwick being enough, and I don't know that I'd weaken any of your other spots in order to get that improvement.
They should have made it even easier. Draft an entire MLB team's offense to go with the pitching staff. Two picks per team and done.
