10 Sites for Fantasy Baseball Information

I'm not speaking about analysis, because we all know you should be at Roto Savants and Fantasy Pros 911 when looking for the best analysis. I'm speaking of where to go for stats, information and scouting. Here are the top 10 most visited sites by me when looking for information on players.

1. FanGraphs - This is my end all spot for Stats. They have almost every stat you could need for hitters and pitchers.

2. Baseball-Reference - As good as FanGraphs is there is some minor league numbers or historical comparison numbers you may need that require a Baseball-Reference visit.

3. Baseball Prospectus - Some of the best projections and good historical analysis on players that can often be lost on other sites.

4. Minor League Ball - One of the easier sites to get some quick background information on the scouting of players.

5. FantasyPitchF/x - Yes Corey works there and yes it's our sister site, but the DL tool has saved time in injury history and once the Pitch F/x tool is up that will be a huge help.

6. Hit Tracker - Are those 30 homers for real or just a long flyball on the right day?

7. RotoWorld - The quick scan of any players last year of notes takes a few minutes, but can supply many important notes.

8. The Hardball Times - Truly helping fantasy baseball analysis with articles about use of stats like BABIP, FIP, etc.

9. Baseball Almanac - Often I just need to know something that the almanac would have like team run totals in 1982.

10. MLB Trade Rumors - You always need to know who's headed where and what moves might happen.

What other sites do you use for information to help make your own analysis?

  1. BP's custom stat builder is great for building CSV files to import into a spreadsheet or database.

  2. That is my one negative to FanGraphs...you can only download one data set at a time. You can get the excel/CSV file for all pitching data for 2008. You have to go section by section and match the names in excel.

I do like BP for that ability. Only a few more days until BP's book is shipped.
