What has Happened to Clay Buchholz?

Clay Buchholz has been sent to AA and many Boston reviewers and bloggers are thinking it maybe awhile before he gets back up.

I think there is three factors leading to his trouble. One is under his control and that is his walk totals. If he can't get the ball over he will not be able to make it. The other two problems are luck. He has a BABIP of .366 and HR/FB of 14.6%.

His FIP is 4.76 which is still poor, but largely based on his high BB/9 and a HR/9 of 1.30 which could improve with a regression of HR/FB to 10-12%.

I also notice that his BB/9 is almost a run higher after his DL stint this season. I wouldn't think the broken fingernail is a factor, but since that stint he hasn't had the same control. This might be a good time for some Pitch F/X.
