Not only did USA come up a bit short in the 2008 Olympics, but Matt LaPorta did not put on the show we had hoped for to press for a call up this fall. I'm sure he will still be up in September to show what Cleveland got for Sabathia anyway.
I am the last person to judge a person on 24 PA, but it would have been nice for him to impress. His splits .153/.333/.474
Of his 3 hits 2 were homers so that shows he is still slugging and his BABIP was .111, but again it was just 24 PA so we all know luck is the major factor in a setting like the Olympics.
If LaPorta is still available in your league and your biggest need is HR then you need to get LaPorta on your team. His AVE and OBP may struggle, but the power should not.
