Pitcher - David Bush
He will never carry you to a championship, but if the Brewers continue to play well and get him enough runs he could be a solid pitcher. If you're hurting at ERA he will not help there, but shouldn't be a huge liability either. He doesn't strikeout nearly enough, but the BB/9 is strong and helps him hold a K/BB of between 2.5 to 3 which is strong to impressive control. If you are looking to grab a free agent with a shot at some wins in the second half he should be a good choice.
He is owned in 47% of CBS leagues.
Hitter - Jed Lowrie (R, OBP)
He does K to much to be a bating average help, but he shouldn't hurt to much. He can take walks though like most Red Sox prospects so the OBP should be closer to .400 than .300. He will have full time at bats as long as Lugo is on the DL and if he shines could command a spot when Lugo gets back as he is not playing well enough to hold off to many players. As thin as SS has been this year you could do worse and not many SS have done well in average or OBP this year.
He is owned in 9% of CBS leagues.

Bush's inconsistency over the past 2 years bothers me. Am I better off looking at a lesser known prospect like Nick Blackburn instead of Bush. I know the Twins may not have the 2nd half success that the Brewers will, but the Twins lineup does score runs. Plus, to date, I like the stats on Blackburn a bit more. I am just not sure if he hits a wall in the 2nd half. Opinions?
You need to stick with Blackburn at this point. I suggested him earlier this year here. The K/9 is a bit lower, but the K/BB is similar and he seems to have maintained that control through 118 innings this year. He only through 150 innings last year at 3 levels though so be wary of getting shutdown or limited innings in September. His FIP is an impressive 3.86 which is much better than Bush at 4.47.
Like that David Bush pickup. He's quietly turned things around after a pretty heinous start. At the very least, got to try your luck with him for some home starts.
It's a shame he has to go into this Home/Road split with McClung. I can't see McClung being usable at any location, but if you still need Bush he should be good for home starts. He'll get his next start July 25th.
