Midseason Draft Thoughts

I was reading my feeds today and overlooked an article on Yahoo Rotoarcade and thought it would make a good thing to review here. They had a midseason redraft and posted the following players and where they were drafted. I don't think these are all bad as Andy labels them over-hyped and mistakes. The bold is my thoughts.

Josh Hamilton (.315, 49 R, 19 HR, 74 RBI, 2 SB), Round 1, Pick 1 - I still wouldn't take him number one yet, but round one is not a stretch.

Edinson Volquez (9-2, 1.64 ERA, 105 K, 1.17 WHIP) R3 P10 - With those strikeouts he has been as valuable as any other 3rd round pitcher. Funny how the first two players were traded for each other.

Carlos Quentin (.267, 44 R, 16 HR, 55 RBI, 4 SB), R3 P13 - Kind of an all out player and may hamper him later, but he is on his way to 30 homers.

Jacoby Ellsbury (.283, 50 R, 5 HR, 23 RBI, 34 SB), R3 P14

Nate McLouth (.293, 54 R, 15 HR, 48 RBI, 7 SB), R4 P3

Jay Bruce (.325, 15 R, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 2 SB), R4 P10 - He had an awesome week and gets selected in the 4th round. Wow...this one is a stretch.

Milton Bradley (.330, 47 R, 15 HR, 48 RBI, 4 SB), R4 P11 - This one is going to hurt when he gets hurt.

Matt Kemp (.292, 30 R, 5 HR, 39 RBI, 12 SB), R5 P10

Shaun Marcum (5-3, 2.43 ERA, 80 K, 0.99 WHIP), R5 P12

Ryan Ludwick (.310, 45 R, 16 HR, 54 RBI, 4 SB), R6 P1 - I still don't like him, but you can't deny he is playing amazing. I would let someone else get him or trade him while you can.

David Murphy (.279, 40 R, 10 HR, 48 RBI, 5 SB), R6 P11

Carlos Gomez (.268, 41 R, 5 HR, 24 RBI, 18 SB), R7 P4

Evan Longoria (.249, 33 R, 11 HR, 33 RBI, 3 SB), R8 P3 - Not quite the start people were looking for. Probably was drafted not to far from this in some leagues back in April.

Joey Votto (.279, 32 R, 11 HR, 36 RBI, 4 SB), R9 P10

I don't like the idea of midseason drafts because sleepers are difficult to find. Your best bet are players with strong second halves, but most of those are known. While finding young players is much tougher.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on these players in the comments.
